Melissa is a girl born on 21st April 1990 in Singapore, is an alumnus of Admiralty Primary School (1997-2002), Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary) (2003-2006), and Raffles Junior College (2007-2008), and is currently studying architecture in the National University of Singapore. Her favourite colours rarely changes, but have recently changed drastically to green, blue, purple and gold. She prefers non-gassy drinks to the gassy ones, though when she drinks gassy she usually drinks sprite, or a gassy cocktail with sprite in it. She loves ice-cream, especially chocolate flavours, and the sea-salt with caramel flavour. Ice-cream is her comfort food during that time of the month, which is ironic since anything cold contributes to her cramp. Her pet peeves are peculiar, the most notable being for the camera flashes during a concert, regardless of whether the visual aspect of the concert is important.
Melissa considers the most important things in her life to be her two kitties, Shroedinger and Newton, her computer, and her friends and family. Close friends usually call her by her chinese name, Meiyi, rather than Melissa. She introduced herself by her Chinese name in high school as her classes always have at least one Melissa other than herself. Her family calls her either Meiyi or Da Jie (which means for Eldest Sister). She has three siblings, two girls one boy. She was ostracised in Kindergarten due to some freak incident and a teacher with a really bad character. This may be the cause for the unusually high priority friends hold, especially when she was in primary school.
Melissa has a wide range of interests. Some more notable ones include those to do with the computer, such as Adobe Photoshop, Web Design, and Film (editing especially), as well as those to do with the Japanese Pop-Culture, such as anime, and to a lesser extent, manga and J-drama. Thanks to her friends, she’s addicted to games such as DDR, parapara, and more recently Jubeat. She is currently struggling to self-learn Japanese and PHP but failing terribly at it. Therefore, she has given up on learning by herself and shall be enrolling in Bunka Language School coming December for formal Japanese lessons. She also wishes to learn how to play the piano, for she thinks the piano makes the best sounds in the world. She used to play handbells in secondary school, but wasn’t terribly proficient at it, mainly due to her sub-par music reading skills. Other than the piano, she wishes to learn the guitar as well.
Melissa has no idea what the future holds for her, for she is not a fortune teller. To be completely honest, she is suffering rather badly in the course of architecture right now. Nevertheless, she is determined to strive hard. Whether she makes it in the end as an architect doesn’t really matter to her, as long as she knows she put in the best of her efforts. It’s the trying that matters, and not the end.
